Iron balusters and cable railings get most of the attention on an open staircase, but this client wanted something different: an all-wood staircase, top to bottom, with no metal or cable in the design at all.

Clients wanted an all wood stair parts instead of iron balusters or cables. We worked together to create the stain color for the parts.

Getting the wood tone right took real back-and-forth. Rather than pulling a stain straight off the shelf, we worked directly with the client to develop the exact color for the treads, railings, and posts, testing and adjusting until it matched what they had in mind. The result is a staircase that’s warm and cohesive from top to bottom, with wood doing all the work that iron or cable usually would.
