Northeast Vancouver Home

Some projects test a crew more than others, and this was one of them. Every pony wall around this staircase had to come down to open the space up, work that’s straightforward to describe and considerably harder to execute cleanly.

BEFORE: Closed-in staircase with pony walls at the Northeast Vancouver home.
AFTER: Fully open staircase with pony walls removed at the Northeast Vancouver home.

With the walls gone, every wood part for the new staircase was manufactured, stained, and sealed in our shop before installation, so the finish work moved quickly once the structural side of the job was handled. The result is a staircase that opened up the entire space it sits in, not just the stairs themselves.
