This project started with a fall, not a design idea. After an incident on their original staircase, this client had reached a clear conclusion: something needed to change, and it needed to be more than a cosmetic fix.

We completely rebuilt the staircase rather than patching around the original problem, and specifically increased head clearance on the lower portion, the kind of structural correction that solves the safety issue for good rather than just making it less noticeable. To finish the space, we installed wainscoting that changed the overall look of the stairwell, turning a genuine hazard into one of the more comfortable parts of the home.
